What Happens Next

We were so excited to post about our match last week!   Scroll back a post if you missed it, because it really is a pretty amazing story.  Seriously.... all about God's plan and providence getting us to her.

But I know a lot of you guys probably have questions right?  Knew I've been getting a lot of those! So... I just wanted to update you guys a bit on the process and where we're at.

Because we chose to do the Waiting Child listing the matching process is a little different for us.   We actually even matched very early in that process because we fell in love with our little girl's picture and reviewed her file early on.

How much longer will we have before we can go get her?
That I've heard can vary quite a bit!   We unfortunately have no way of knowing.  We were however told that even with matching early on, the process was still taking from 18-24 months in most cases.  Please join us in praying for a miracle and that we get our baby girl much much sooner than that!  Can Not Wait to hold her in my arms.

Is she living in an orphanage? No!  Thankfully Holt implemented a program in her country that uses foster parents much like the U.S.  So we know that she is with a loving and caring family in her country while we wait.  This is very good for attachment issues and forming bonds so we hear! So I am very thankful.

How old is she right now?  She is a little over 8 months old

Why haven't you posted her picture?   Unfortunately for privacy reasons I won't be able to post her picture on the internet, which is very sad because I can't wait to share her with you guys!

What's her name going to be?  I'll post on this a bit later!

How often do you receive updates?  We get updates every 3 months with a photo and a wellness checkup.  We received one last week just before our selection committee met, and this week again because she went for a follow-up appointment.  Baby girl is rocking her development milestones! She's on an 11 month level on most!  So proud of her :) And thankful to her sweet foster family.   Also very very sad that we have to miss her first time sitting, crawling, first words, and playing peek a boo.   It kind of breaks my heart.   Can  you just be here in my arms yet little one???

Where are we now in the process?   Piled high with paperwork!  ha!   No we got to start our home study FINALLY!  So excited about getting that process moving!  We're working with an agency in Tupelo that is Hague accredited and that Holt partners with for the study since they are based out of Oregon and not in Mississippi.   We go for our first meeting tomorrow.  It will consist of 4, the last being in our home of course.   We're also getting physicals and the newly required psych examinations for Korea.   Also working on getting our house ready!   The Home Study process takes around 3 months to complete.   After the home study is complete we'll be able to send care packages which is exciting!  And we'll be getting the Dossier ready and USCIS application... so lots to do! There's sooo much to this process!  But Oh So Worth it.  Thankful I get to look stare at that little face now in this process.
